What is "Real Talk"?

Real Talk, for girls grades 8-12, is about creating a space where girls feel comfortable and confident to talk about sensitive and “difficult” topics with trusted adults and peers! At empowerHER, we want to recognize that we are never alone in our experiences. This is a time when many teens are thinking about topics like bullying, driving, drugs, confusion about life, etc. It helps to know other girls are experiencing these things. Also, some girls just wish they had more information…This is where empowerHER can help!

All girls will have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversations about sexual health, relationships, friendships, pressure, risks and decision making. Ultimately, we hope to empower girls to make these decisions for themselves.

Real Talk is lead by a group of trusted and knowledgeable facilitators

Emily Miller, M.Ed., Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Kerry Son, RN, Family Nurse Practitioner

Teagan Drawbridge, Sexuality Educator & Trainer

Joan Quealy, R.N., empowerHER Mentor Program Coordinator

Jenn Donovan, “Teen Pregnancy Facilitator”

Lindsay Bonanno, Scituate Police Officer

This is an all-expenses paid event, however, transportation to and from the event will not be provided. Girls should arrive at 3:00PM on Sunday, September 23rd, and plan to be picked up at 5:30PM!
